Hyderabad: Police spoil YouTuber’s conference at a hotel, citing Police Permission

The Hyderabad police on Friday spoilt a YouTuber’s conference which was supposed to be held at a Hotel in Secunderabad, citing ‘Police permission” norm.

The cops reportedly broke into Hotel Metropolis and directed the hotel management to not allow the meeting of the YouTubers.

Nearly seventy YouTubers from different parts of the country had planned a two-day conference on various subjects such as conceptualization of Islamophobia, busting fake news, impact of mobile journalism, effective utilization of social media by political parties and need for collaboration were on the agenda.

Soon after the YouTubers started arriving at the hotel, a dozen policemen barged into the conference hall and denied them any permission to hold the conferences, the Siasat Daily reported.

The police had also allegedly directed the management to disconnect the power of the conference hall and of the complete floor on which the YouTubers have taken rooms for accomodation too.

Meanwhile, the participants were forced to stay outside the hotel during the night as the management of the hotel disconnected their power supply.

“The police have not allowed the proposed conference since they did not obtain prior police permission from the concerned police authorities, since it was the inter-state conference the accord by the Hyderabad police is must” DCP North Zone Chandana Deepti told the publication.

The YouTubers have alleged that the police permission was not required, since the meeting was being held within the vicinity of the hotel and being the indoor event.
