Hyderabad rape & murder accused of minor girl found dead on track after ‘encounter’ threat by minister

The accused of an alleged rape and murder case of a six-year old girl in Hyderabad was found dead on a railway track in Jangaon district on Thursday, the police officials informed.

A minor girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her 30 year-old neighbour on September 9. The incident took place in Hyderabad’s Saidabad.

Talking to NDTV, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said, “It appears to be suicide.”

The police said the accused was recognised after the verifying his identification marks on the body.

A senior police official told the body was found with head injuries on the railway track in Ghanpur Station and the police reached the spot after few locals noticed a body on the track.

The police also suspect that the rape and murder accused P Raju must have committed suicide by jumping before a running train.

The news of the his death comes two days after Malla Reddy, a Telangana Minister commented that Raju “will be killed in an encounter”.

“We will catch the rapist and murderer. There will be an encounter after he is caught,” Reddy had told reporters on Tuesday.

The alleged rape and murder incident had triggered protests by residents of the locality who raised slogans and demanded justice and immediate arrest of the culprit.
