BJP fields Suvendu Adhikari’s brother, Soumendu Adhikari from Contai, Pawan Singh from Asansol

Leader of the opposition party in the legislative assembly of West Bengal, Soumendu Adhikari, who is the brother of Suvendu Adhikari, Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh, Sukanta Majumdar, party state chief and the central ministers Santanu Thakur and Subhash Sarka, were among the 20 candidates, which were named by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The BJP listed out some 195 candidates’ name in its first list on Saturday for this year’s general elections. These names also include the names of 20 candidates, which are out of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal. Although, there was a major development change in the party naming the people.

Instead of giving ticket to the MLA of Nandigram Suvendu Adhikari, the party fielded his younger brother Soumendu Adhikari, who was a former Trinamool Congress MP from the Tamluk constituency in East Midnapore.

Among the 20 candidates, three are the women candidates- Locket Chatterjee, Priya Saha and Sreerupa Mitra Chowdhury.

Meanwhile, a TMC spokesperson, Debangshu Bhattacharya took a dig at the and said on X handle (formerly known as Twitter), “I thank the BJP for virtually handing over some seats to the TMC without a fight. They should announce the candidates for the rest 22 seats with the same discretion. Greetings.”
