Mamata Banerjee calls Mithun Chakravorty ‘gaddar’; he bowed down to save his son

West Bengal Chief Minister, and Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee called BJP star campaigner as a ‘Gaddar’- (traitor) during a poll campaign in Raiganj on Thursday. Banerjee recalled how the TMC had sent Chakravorty to the Rajya Sabha, she alleged that the actor had betrayed her trust and the trust of Bengal by joining the BJP by bowing down in order to save his son.

“He is another gaddar who went to the Mumbai RSS office and bowed his head before them and said he was BJP’s sewak,” Banerjee said. It was just to save his son… I do not respect people who cannot fight their battles on their own,” the chief minister claimed.

Banerjee also took a jibe at the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, who is scheduled to visit the state to campaign for his saffron party. “Yogi is coming to Bengal to give a political speech. He should first take care of his state. In Uttar Pradesh, people cannot speak their minds. So many have died in the NRC protests there,” Banerjee said. The TMC supremo further stated the Congress’ Raiganj candidate had switched to the party from the Forward Bloc for a certain reason. “He is here to work for the BJP. He is here to see if he can bag some minority votes to stop the TMC from winning,” she further added.

Banerjee further went on to accuse the opposition party and said: “BJP leaders are saying that in three months, they will stop Lakshmir Bhandar. Who are they to stop Lakshm Bhandar? If they dare to do so, they will see the power of our womenfolk. It is Mamata Banerjee’s promise that women will get Lakshmir Bhandar their entire lives.”
