The International Cricket Council (ICC) is preparing for a leadership change as Jay Shah, the current secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is set to succeed Greg Barclay as chairman. Sources confirm that Barclay, who has held the role since November 2020, will not seek a third term and will step down at the end of his current tenure in November.
At just 35 years old, Shah is set to become the youngest chairman in ICC history. Shah, who is also the son of India’s home minister Amit Shah, will be the third Indian to serve a high position in the ICC.
Shah’s election marks a significant moment in cricket administration, reflecting India’s growing influence in the sport’s global governance.
