SA vs ENG | The Proteas took over England by a huge margin

South Africa marked their third victory with the defending champions at Wankhede stadium by a huge margin of 229 runs. This is one of the few ODI match where the audience were able to witness such a big marginal win.

Clinical show by South Africa helped them beat England by 229 runs in ODI 20 of the ongoing World Cup 2023 in Mumbai on Saturday. South Africa batting first piled a massive 399/7 in 50 overs, whereas England could only manage 170/9 in 22 overs as Reece Topley didn’t walk out to bat due to injury. The match started with England winning the toss and deciding to bowl first.

Although South Africa lost the first wicket at an early stage with Quinton de Kock contributing to only 4 runs, the team showed that it still has a lot of power within itself. There was a steady partnership between Hendricks (85) and Dussen (60). Heinrich Klaasen pulled the match off with a century with 109 runs for just 67 balls after being knocked out by Gus Atkinson in the last over. March Jansen also took the match to a greater height with 75 runs (not out).
While the bowlers of England did not show much grace where only G Coetzee gave 35 runs and took 3 wickets while the star bowler, Kagiso Rabada was only able to take 1 wicket.

In reply England was only able to reach 170 runs and had to wrap up at 22 overs only which was not even half of the game. The big batsmen like Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root were only able to contribute to 10 and 2 runs respectively. Atkinson (35) and Wood (43) were the only batsmen who actually played the game.

The man of the match was awarded to Heinrich Klaasen. England has a long way to go but the team is on the 9th position and has to prepare itself for its upcoming matches with much more efforts and strength.
