Zurich Diamond League: Silver for Neeraj Chopra who stumbled in the Diamond League

Zurich: World champion javelin athlete Neeraj Chopra settled for second place in the Diamond League meet.

He won the silver medal by throwing the javelin at a distance of 85.71 metres.

Czech Republic’s Jakub Wadlech won the gold medal with a javelin throw of 85.86m, while Germany’s Julian Weber finished third with a throw of 85.04m.

Neeraj was the champion in the last Diamond League meet.

In the recent World Athletics held in Budapest, Neeraj won the medal in the men’s category with a javelin throw of 88.17 metres. He was the first Indian athlete to achieve this feat. He won silver in 2022.

He is also the third javelin throw athlete in the world to win gold in Olympic and World Championships. Neeraj was followed by Czech Republic’s Jan Zelensky and Norway’s Andries Throkildsson.

The 25-year-old Neeraj is unbeaten in this Diamond League season. He had won the editions held in Doha (May 5) and Lausanne (June 30).
