LONDON, UK: The 2024 UK general election has seen a notable increase in Muslim representation within Parliament, with 21 Muslim MPs securing seats across both the Labour and Conservative parties. This marks a significant step towards greater diversity and inclusion in the country’s political landscape.
The Labour Party continues to lead in Muslim representation, with 18 Muslim MPs elected. Notable figures include Rushanara Ali (Bethnal Green and Bow), Yasmin Qureshi (Bolton South East), and Naz Shah (Bradford West). Labour’s presence is also bolstered by newcomers such as Anum Qaisar (Airdrie and Shotts) and Mohammad Asghar (Newport East).
