Another video of a student cleaning toilet goes viral in Karnataka

Two students were recorded on camera, who were cleaning toilets in a government school in Chikkaballapur in Karnataka on Monday. This is not the first video or first incident when such instance has come into the news.

This type of incident follows a pattern which has emerged across various schools in the state, and with this video, it marks the third such case in the past two months. The previous incidents included students being sent down to toilet pits in Kolar at the Yelavalli Morarji Desai Residential School, in Bengaluru. Each of the incidents has sparked outrage among the public and have called for an immediate action.

The viral video, which was captured from the Government Senior Primary School in Chikkaballapur prompted the state government team to come and visit the site and record statements from the students. There was yet another video which was reported from Shivamogga in December last year when the students of the school were forced for cleaning and scrubbing school toilets in a video that went viral on social media which also spread outrage among people.

The Karnataka Education Department has suspended the headmistress of the school. The incident also prompted the Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to warn those who would force children to perform such tasks.
