Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah: ‘Amit Shah has come to Karnataka with empty hands’

Recently, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah attacked Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday and for “not calling a single meeting to give relief funds for the drought in the state.”

Siddaramaiah said that Amit Shah, went on to different places and participated in various events and programmes in many states but he came to Karnataka on Sunday with empty hands. “Amit Shah has come to Karnataka with empty hands. He hasn’t called for a single meeting so far to provide relief funds for the drought. Farmers are suffering here; there is no water,” Siddaramaiah told reporters here.

The Karnataka CM had called on the Prime Minister in December last year in Delhi and had sought Rs 18,177.44 crores as assistance from the government for undertaking the drought relief work into the state. Siddaramaiah questioned Amit Shah on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), he reminded him that four months have elapsed since the state of Karnataka had submitted its report to the Centre on the drought situation and even the Central Study Team has visited the place and submitted its report.

As per the rules, it is the Union Home Minister, who has to chair a high-level meeting for examining the report of the Central Study Team and grant the approval to release the drought relief to the State.
