Supreme Court Upholds Madras HC Order for Report on Isha Foundation’s Criminal Cases

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has upheld the Madras High Court’s directive, asking police to submit a detailed report on all criminal cases filed against Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudeva’s Isha Foundation. The foundation had challenged the High Court’s order, prompting the case to reach the Supreme Court.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing the Isha Foundation, requested an urgent hearing. In response, Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud remarked that institutions like the police or army cannot arbitrarily enter such places. He also noted that the Madras High Court’s inquiry notice was issued without prima facie evidence, which the Supreme Court set aside.

During the hearing, one of the two women allegedly held at the Isha Foundation appeared virtually, stating, “I stayed at Isha Foundation voluntarily, and my sister is there by her own choice. My father has been harassing me for the last eight years.” The court will further investigate the matter.
