Mark Zuckerberg became the world’s second richest person on Thursday, surpassing Jeff Bezos. This rise is fueled by the continued climb in Meta Platforms Inc.’s share price. However, Jeff Bezos has since reclaimed the second-place position.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Zuckerberg’s net worth soared to $206.2 billion, driven by investor confidence in Meta’s recent focus on artificial intelligence and augmented reality, which some consider aspects of the “Metaverse.”
Despite this surge, Zuckerberg remains approximately $50 billion behind Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who retains the title of the world’s richest person.
