Bhopal Woman Rescued After 16 Years of Captivity by Husband’s Family

A woman was successfully rescued in Bhopal after being held captive by her husband’s family for a harrowing 16 years. Ranu Sahu, the victim, was freed on Saturday following a complaint lodged by her father, Kishan Lal Sahu, from Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh.

According to the complaint, Ranu was married in 2006 but has denied contact with her family since 2008. Her in-laws allegedly subjected her to constant harassment and abuse, even isolating her from her children.

Ranu’s deteriorating condition, brought to the attention of her father by concerned neighbors, prompted him to file the complaint. With the assistance of an NGO, the police rescued Ranu and provided her with necessary medical care.

Further investigations into the matter are currently underway.
