Election Commission to Announce Maharashtra and Jharkhand Poll Schedules Today

New Delhi (PTI): The Election Commission (EC) will announce the schedule for Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections today at 3:30 pm. The term of Maharashtra’s assembly ends on November 26, while Jharkhand’s term concludes on January 5 next year.

In addition to the general elections for these two states, the EC may also announce by-polls for three Lok Sabha seats and 47 vacant assembly seats across India.

The vacant Lok Sabha constituencies include Wayanad (Kerala), Nanded (Maharashtra), and Basirhat (West Bengal). Wayanad was vacated by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while Nanded and Basirhat seats became vacant after the deaths of their representatives.
