Ahmedabad (PTI): Gujarat Police have filed an FIR against an individual for disseminating a deepfake video featuring Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman discussing GST, announced state minister Harsh Sanghavi on Tuesday.
The video, shared by Chirag Patel on his X account, purportedly shows Nirmala Sitharaman referring to Goods and Services Tax as the “Gopaniya Suchna Tax.” Patel, according to his X profile, resides in the USA. Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi condemned the dissemination of deepfake videos as deceptive and misleading, emphasizing the importance of truth and accountability in digital media.
