Kangana Ranaut summoned by BJP President J.P. Nadda amid controversy over farmers’ protests

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda summoned Kangana Ranaut at his residence in Delhi. The meeting, which lasted approximately half an hour, comes in the wake of Ranaut’s controversial remarks about the 2020-21 farmers’ protests—statements that have created significant political friction for the party.

The timing of this meeting is particularly sensitive for the BJP, which is gearing up for crucial Assembly elections in Haryana—a state deeply affected by the farmers’ protests that led to major road blockades around the national capital.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann criticized Ranaut, emphasizing that she was elected to address the concerns of her constituency, not to make contentious statements about the farmers’ movement.

Nadda’s engagement with Ranaut is interpreted as a reminder for her to align with the party’s position and maintain a more measured public stance, particularly as the BJP seeks to stabilize its position following a notable drop in its Lok Sabha tally from 303 to 240 in the recent elections.
