Chandrayaan-3: Centre calls on universities to host live broadcast program

New Delhi: The central government has asked all universities and higher education institutions, including IITs, IIMs, to organize a special live broadcast program on the occasion of the Chandrayaan-3 project’s Vikram lander landing on the moon.

K. Sanjay Murthy, Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, who has released a statement in this regard, said, ‘The landing process of India’s Chandrayaan-3 project is a memorable occasion. It will not only create curiosity among the youth but will inspire a spirit of discovery. It will make us feel deeply proud of Indian science and technology and will make everyone celebrate as one, he said.

He also said that ‘this occasion will give impetus to scientific thinking and spirit of discovery’.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has also issued a similar directive to educational institutions. It has been asked to organize a live broadcast from 5.30 to 6.30 in the evening.

According to Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram lander will land on the Moon’s South Pole today (August 23) at 6.04 pm. All preparations have been made for a soft landing.
