Delhi University decides to remove Iqbal’s text, ‘Saare Jahan Se Accha Hindustan Hamara”

New Delhi: The Academic Council of Delhi University on Friday passed a resolution to remove the chapter on Pakistan’s national poet Muhammad Iqbal from the political science syllabus, members of the statutory body confirmed.

Born in Sialkot, undivided India, in 1877, Iqbal wrote the famous song Saare Jahan Se Accha.

The chapter titled ‘Modern Indian Political Thought’ is a part of the BA sixth semester paper, officials said, adding that the matter will now be presented before the university’s executive council, which will take a final decision.
