A petition filed in the Madras High Court on Monday asks, “If people earning less than ₹8 lakh annually is an Economically Weaker Section (EWS) why should people earning more than Rs 2.50 lakhs pay income tax?”
The High court has issued a notice to the Union Ministries of Law and Justice, Finance Personnel, Public Grievance and Pension, seeking an answer from the centre the court adjourned the case by four weeks.
