Time for courts to wake up to the blatant misuse of PMLA” : Sibbal Blasts at ED for Summoning Kejriwal

Veteran Congress leader and lawyer Kapil Sibbal urged the Courts of the country to focus on the misuse of Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 as ED had summoned Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), “Kejriwal summoned by ED. ED targeting leaders of almost all political parties in opposition. ED and denial of bail to leaders has become a political weapon in the hands of the government.

Time for courts to wake up to the blatant misuse of PMLA”
Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo, Arvind Kejriwal was summoned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday in Excise Policy Case. Earlier Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodiya was arrested for the same case.
Oppositions claim, as the 2024 Union election is approaching, BJP- led central government is misusing the powers of Central Agencies like CBI and ED.

“A conspiracy has been underway to eliminate the AAP government since it came to power, and now BJP leaders are preparing for Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest through the ED. BJP leaders have been shouting since Monday that since the Supreme Court has rejected Manish Sisodiaji’s bail application, Arvind Kejriwal will be arrested,” AAP Minister Gopal Rai has mentioned.
Sibbal has always been vocal about the role of Agencies like ED and CBI under BJP’s ruling.
