In a major relief to residents of Sitapur’s Sadarpur police station area, the wolf that had been terrorizing the region for the past three days has finally been caught. The wolf, which had claimed one life and injured six others, was apprehended by a team of forest officials on Wednesday evening.
The wolf’s reign of terror began on Monday evening, when it attacked 80-year-old Saifullah, a resident of Bharthari village, while she was alone in the fields. She died on the spot. Over the next three days, the wolf attacked and injured six people, including four children, in addition to killing a goat.
The victims included Kaisar Jahan (50), Mohammad Shafi (35), Sarfaraz (6), Nahid (3), Manjeet (10), and Kanhaiya (8). The attacks had occurred in various locations, including Bharthari village, Dharampur village, and near the Peepa bridge.
Forest Range Officer Vikram Jeet Singh said, “We are relieved to have caught the wolf and put an end to the terror. We will now conduct a detailed inquiry into the incidents and take measures to prevent such attacks in the future.”
The capture of the wolf has brought a sense of relief to the residents of the area, who had been living in fear for the past few days. The forest department’s swift action has been praised by locals, who hope that such incidents will not recur in the future.
