CBI Team Arrives in Kolkata to Investigate Doctor’s Murder Case

Kolkata (PTI): A team of senior CBI officers arrived in Kolkata on Wednesday morning to investigate the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor at a state-run hospital in West Bengal, according to sources at the central agency.

The team, which includes medical and forensic experts, plans to visit the seminar hall at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital where the trainee doctor’s body was discovered on August 9.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in New Delhi related to the case, a CBI source revealed.

The agency intends to retrieve the call details of the deceased and those on duty that day, with the possibility of submitting the FIR to a local court. The CBI is also expected to take custody of Sanjay Roy, who was previously arrested by Kolkata Police in connection with the case.

On Tuesday evening, two CBI officers visited Tala Police Station to collect documents related to the initial investigation by the Kolkata Police. The court has ordered the city police to hand over the case diary to the CBI by this evening and all other documents by 10 am on Wednesday.
