Betul (MP) (PTI): A sub-inspector in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district was suspended after a video surfaced on social media showing a man tied to a window grill at Multai police station, an official confirmed on Saturday.
The man, identified as Ajay Farkade, a tea seller, was seen tied with a stick between his neck and hands. Following the video’s circulation, Superintendent of Police Nischal Jharia took swift action, suspending sub-inspector Sunil Sareyam and ordering an investigation by a gazetted officer.
Farkade alleged that he was picked up by the police on September 18 on suspicion of selling narcotics. Despite his pleas of innocence, he was tied and beaten.
A formal complaint was lodged with the SP, and further disciplinary action is pending based on the investigation report.
