Case against wrestlers for rioting and obstruction of duty

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Sunday arrested the wrestlers who were about to go near the new Parliament House and registered a case against them. Wrestlers Vinesha Pogat, Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Poonia and their supporters have been charged with rioting and obstruction of duty.

700 people were arrested across Delhi, including 109 protesters at Jantar Mantar.

Commenting on this development, Vinesh Phogat quipped, ‘If the Delhi Police took seven days to file an FIR against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for sexual harassment, it did not take even seven hours to file a case against the peaceful protestors’.

The wrestlers had been protesting at Jantar Mantar since April 23, demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan Singh for allegedly sexually harassing seven female wrestlers, including minors.
