Road accident takes the life of five in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: Seven members of a family were killed while two others remaining were injured in a head-on collision between a car and a truck in the highway located in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district, as reported by the police on Sunday. The accident took place at Sunday night when the whole family was returning to their home after attending a function.

SHO Ved Pal said those killed were identified as Paramjeet Kaur (60), Khushvinder Singh (25), his wife Paramjeet Kaur (22), son Manjot Singh (5), Rampal (36), his wife Reena (35) and daughter Reet (12). The injured, who have been identified as Akashdeep Singh (14) and Manraj Kaur (2), were referred to a hospital in Bikaner. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.

Prima facie, as per the CIP, the incident took place due to the overspeeding of the Trolla truck. “The family belonged to the Naurangdesar village in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh. The bodies have been kept in the mortuary. A probe is underway”, CIP Shyoran added. Further details are awaited. The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot also took to X to express his condolences towards the bereaved family and urged every person to take proper caution and safety while driving or riding on roads, especially in the highways.
