Family of Young Woman in Love Marriage Allegedly Parades Young Man’s Mother Half-Naked

In Tarn Taran, Punjab, a distressing incident unfolded where the family of a young man reportedly assaulted and publicly humiliated the mother of the young man as a consequence of his love marriage.

The young man and woman tied the knot despite the disapproval of the young woman’s parents, which led to escalating tensions.

Allegedly, on March 31, the young man married the young woman, prompting a violent reaction from her family. The victim’s son and the young lady from the accused family were involved in a romantic relationship, which culminated in marriage.

However, the young woman’s parents vehemently opposed their union. Subsequently, on the complaint of the victim, it was reported that the young woman’s family forcefully entered her home when she was alone and subjected her to physical assault, tearing her clothes and parading her half-naked through the streets of the village.

A police complaint was lodged, resulting in the identification of three suspects: Kulwinder Kaur Mani, Sharanjit Singh Shani, and Gurcharan Singh.

The incident has led to the registration of a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 354, 354B, 354D, 323, and 149, as per the complaint filed on April 3. However, no arrests have been made in connection with the case thus far, as per police reports.
