Woman dies after being dragged by BMW for 100m in Mumbai

In yet another hit and run case, a speeding BMW hit a couple in Mumbai’s Worli this morning, resulting in the death of a woman, police said.

According to the police, the couple was travelling in their two-wheeler when the accident took place. The deceased has been identified by the police as Kaveri. The accident took place at around 5:30 am, when the deceased with her husband, Pradik Nakva, took a trip from the Koliwada area of Worli, to Sassoon Dock to fetch fish. As the couple was made their way to home, their two-wheeler was struck from behind by a speeding BMW.

The impact was such that their bike took a overturn, throwing both the husband and wife onto the bonnet of the car. While Pradik in a bid to save himself, managed to jump off the bonnet, Kaveri was not that fortunate as she was dragged for nearly 100 metres by the car, which made a desperate attempt to flee from the crime scene. The driver was successful in fleeing. While Kaveri was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. The husband is reportedly getting treated for his injuries.

Police sources revealed that the car was driven by 24-year-old Mihir Shahm, who is the son of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction of Shiv Sena, Rajesh Shah. Meanwhile, the police has detained Rajesh Shah, his son Mihir is on the run from the police.
