Bangalore Authorities Impose ₹5,000 Fine on Individuals for Using Cauvery Water for Car Washing

It has come to light that water board officials have fined ₹5,000 each to three people who used Cauvery water to wash their cars.

A woman who washed her car with Cauvery water in Sadashivnagar was fined ₹5,000 by the Jalmandali on the spot. Similarly, two people have been fined in Mahadevpur and Dollars Colony, the Jalmandali said.

Bengaluru City Water Supply and Internal Sewerage Board has appealed to the state capital Bangalore not to waste Cauvery water for washing vehicles while it is suffering without water. It also warned that if water is wasted, a fine will be imposed. But cases of people who do not know the importance of water using Cauvery water to clean their vehicles are being reported here and there.

Creating awareness among the public about the efficient use of water. The Water Board has issued an order that the water cannot be used for car washing, gardening, entertainment, fountain construction, building construction, road construction, cinemas, and malls except for drinking water. The water board has also asked anyone to call 1916 if they see water being used for other purposes.
