Punjab Cops Learn ‘Gatka’ Martial Art from Nihangs Days After Ajnala Clash

Cops were seen training with Nihang practitioners, a Sikh warrior order.

Days after a clash between Punjab police and followers of Khalistani sympathizer Amritpal Singh, it has emerged that Punjab Police personnel are receiving training in ‘Gatka’, a martial arts form mainly practiced by members of the Sikh community.

The special training is aimed at ensuring the physical fitness of cops, as well as preparing them to deal with dangerous situations, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Avtar Singh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI Sri Muktsar Sahib, Police personnel are being given special training in Gatka for their physical fitness and to make them capable of dealing with any dangerous situation.
